School Community Youth Collaborative (SCYC) is celebrating 20 years serving the youth of Montezuma County. Our mission is to support youth on their path to healthy adulthood. SCYC programming includes: leadership development, social emotional learning, substance abuse prevention, and community engagement. Additionally, through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, SCYC is able to provide outside of school time programming at Southwest Open School and Montezuma-Cortez High School. This programming includes tutoring, study hall, credit recovery, summer school, college trips, movement education, fly fishing, kayaking, board games club, cooking club, and Indigenous People's Club. Youth that participate in outside of school time activities are shown to have a decrease in substance use and an increase in high school graduation rates.
By supporting SCYC, you are supporting the development of the youth of Montezuma County. The youth are capable, and with the right tools will thrive, thus creating a dynamic, thriving community.
