As I reflect on my first year as Executive Director, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible journey. At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to ensuring young people have the opportunity to fall in love with orchestra music. We know the world of the orchestra should be a place for everyone, and we are committed to ensuring that our programs instill a sense of belonging in every attendee.
It's Colorado Gives Day and I know there are many deserving causes, but I would be grateful if you would consider Inside the Orchestra in your giving plans.
This year, our focus is on raising funds for the “Overture Outreach Ticket Project.” This initiative provides free and discounted tickets for Tiny Tots concerts. Inside the Orchestra operates on an open-door policy, ensuring that no one is turned away due to financial constraints. With the support of our donors, we hope to provide over 3,000 free or reduced priced tickets through the Overture Project this year. This represents a total estimated value of $63,000. Will you help support this endeavor?
It's been one year since I humbly took over the leadership of IO and I am thrilled to share a few recent milestones and achievements:
New Programming: We recently piloted a new chamber program for schools, aimed at combining orchestral music and social and emotional learning (SEL) outcomes. We partnered with a local Music Therapist to develop the learning objectives and our very own Conductor Dan beautifully arranged a collection of diverse pieces that come together in an interactive and fun 45-minute program for young people. I look forward to sharing more about this program with you.
Investing in our Musicians: Inside the Orchestra has signed a 3-year agreement with the Denver Musicians Association. We remain the only professional orchestra exclusively focused on programming for young people. I am proud to be working with the local Musician’s Union to help ensure that our talented musicians are compensated fairly. We are nothing without our Orchestra.
The Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (the SCFD): The Metro Denver area remains a model for many cities looking to invest public funding into arts and cultural organizations. I’m proud that Inside the Orchestra is in the top 10% of Tier III organizations (in awarded revenue). We are receiving significant General Operating Support from both Adams and Denver Counties.
New Board Members: We are thrilled to welcome several new faces to our Board of Directors. Each brings a unique set of skills and talents that promise to propel our mission forward. Their commitment to our cause and passion for making a positive impact align seamlessly with our organization's values. You can learn more about the members of our Board on our website.
Accessibility - This year we are hosting 32 Tiny Tots orchestra performances across the metro area. We have a completely open-door policy at Inside the Orchestra, and the newly-launched “Overture Outreach Ticket Project” provides free and discounted tickets to families and schools in need.
I would like to invite you to be part of our beautiful mission by making a gift. Will you join us? Together, let's make music education accessible and transformative for every child.
Thank you for your consideration!
