Imagine...

that you come home from school one day to find out that you are going to stay in a foster home without your siblings...without the people you are closest to in the world.

Imagine...

the feelings of isolation and fear you would likely experience...

Imagine...

that you are eight or ten or fifteen and you are now separated from one or more of your siblings.

The impact...

Scared, lonely, confused, angry are just some of the words we have heard from the siblings we serve about what it felt like to no longer live with each other. These are words that no child or teenager should ever have to use to describe their world.

Studies show that siblings who are separated tend to have higher truancy rates, increased juvenile justice involvement, increased long term mental health issues, and instability in placements/housing.

Why is the sibling relationship so important?

The sibling relationship is most often the longest relationship in our lives.

We learn how to communicate, fight and make-up, and set boundaries with our siblings.

We lean on our siblings throughout our lives and they remind us who we are.

At Elevating Connections...

we to work to bring siblings together and strengthen the sibling bond through year round Sibling Connecting Events and Camp Connect, our annual summer camp for siblings separated through foster care or other out of home placements. We provide a safe space for siblings to spend time together just being kids.

This is where YOU come in!
