Holy Ghost Catholic Church is a parish established in 1923, with the current church built in 1943. The congregation of this historic church has maintained a high quality of music, insisted on maintaining traditions, and provided much-needed social assistance and outreach to the homeless in our area for decades, including the sandwich line, ID card application services, and the prayerful presence in the heart of downtown. The Catholic church in Denver exists that all might be rescued and begin to live abundant life in Jesus Christ. At Holy Ghost Church, our spirits are raised to the heavens, and our congregation engages with one another and the wider community to offer good neighborly and spiritual support.
Mission
The Catholic church in Denver exists that in Jesus Christ, all might be rescued and begin to live abundant life. Holy Ghost Church is a field hospital in the midst of a spiritual warzone, providing God's healing and a nurturing environment for spiritual growth.
Background Statement
The present-day Holy Ghost Church was dedicated on July 8, 1943. However, the parish has its roots in the 1860 construction of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the first Catholic church in Denver. Since the parish was established in 1905, it has been our pleasure to dedicate our service to our fellow worshipers.
Since 2001, priests and brothers of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary have staffed Holy Ghost Church. We are here to provide you guidance on your spiritual journey. No matter where you are on the path to the Lord, we’re here to help. We guide men and women who are hoping to experience the joy of encountering the Lord through the scriptures and the sacraments.
